A Revelation (Solo) [Finished]
Paragraph Count: 5
It has been a few days since John appeared in the demon woods of Mount Masami. With a close call upon entering this land John found himself a little weary of heading anywhere without Yuko, who had found him and luckily saved him. But it was time John started to explore this land, to get a better understanding, with or without Yuko.
The best place, John decided, to start would be in the Demon Woods. John gathered his gear that he had just recently purchased, and began setting off for the Demon Woods. "Now which way was that again?" John sighed as he regretted not asking someone for directions, he was only a few miles out of where he had began his journey, but he had taken so many turns this way and that, that there was no way he was going to find his way back.
"This was probably my best idea ever." John said sarcastically to himself as he plopped down on the small patch of grass he had found, finally giving up trying to find where the bridge in Cherry Forest. He knew if he could get back there, that eventually someone would pass by and help him. Then John felt an urge from deep within his gut, to sit up and head away from the rising sun. "I hope this isn't as bad as my first idea." He mumbled to himself.
Suddenly he spotted a tree in the distance, then another, and another. They started out sporadically but now he noticed more and more trees, "This must be it!" John exclaimed in excitement and fear, as he really wasn't sure what to expect out of the forest, or if it was even the same forest. A thud several feat away practically sent John jumping into the tree screaming, though his composure stood true, and to John's dismay and joy, it was merely a branch from a tree. "Wait, I have heard of leaves falling from trees, but never a perfectly healthy branch."
John looked up to find that a large crow looking bird had just lifted off from the branch, and had snapped it right off. "Not again" John exasperated in a disappointing tone "I think I should turn back, that patch of grass looked a lot more friendlier." He turned 180 and started heading in the other direction, but due to neglect, John hadn't noticed that the sun was starting to set as he had spent most of the day walking in random directions. "Oh boy, first I am lost, now I am lost in the dark." A pessimistic aura was almost palpable in the air. Soon I will have to find some water and food, and I don't think I am feeling like crow tonight.

Time flew by as John searched every direction for somewhere familiar, but it was to no avail. John finally sat down with a sigh "I guess it is time to rest, one day without food or water won't kill me." John said almost questioningly. "I will wake up and try to head towards the bridge." he decided before he laid his head down onto him folded arm and attempted to get into a comfortable position.
The sound of a twig snapping made John suddenly jerk up from his light sleep. He looked all around and saw nothing, then he looked up and saw the crow-looking bird. "Are you following me?" John asked rhetorically, laughing while he said it. A sudden gush of wind slapped John across the face as the bird spread its wings and took its first sweeping motion, it descended from the tree it stood on and began a nose-dive towards John. Instinctively John got into a crouched position, waiting to roll out of the way as soon as the creature was too close to reposition itself. As the bird came down, John rolled but he hadn't cared to look around him and rolled right into a tree, knocking him off of his feet. The bird soared inches from the ground almost majestically, besides the part where the bird had just tried to take John's life. John didn't know what to do, he tried to get up but his legs were still jello under his weight and he toppled down as the bird came around for another strike.
John decided he would try to take a sidestep and then hit the creature as it passed. Unfortunately, John hadn't really thought of the time it would take to move, raise his weapon and then strike the creature. Not only did he miss the creature completely, the bird had taken a chunk of his flesh from his unprotected inner thigh along with it. John screamed in agony as if he was on the verge of dying, which he would be if he did not kill this creature and stop the profuse bleeding. John still hesitated, he hated hurting anything, but he would not put his own life in peril for the sake of a bird. Besides, he had just met Daichi and Yuko, he didn't want to leave this world yet, he had just made some friends that he didn't want to lose.
John stood tall and strong, a posture he had seen Daichi give him. The bird came back, and this time instead of trying to dodge the bird, he let it come straight at him. When he saw his chance John lurched forward with his mace in hand, the bird was now tearing viciously at John's flesh. He had no intention of letting the bird go and have another shot at him, he grabbed the giant bird's neck and pinned it to the ground, then raised his mace and repeatedly brought it down upon the skull. It took six or seven hits before he felt the skull give and the last breath of the bird silently dissipate. John's vision started to blur, and he knew all to well what was happening.
Blood was everywhere on the ground, most of it the birds, but a great deal also his own. The bird had taken chunks from his chest and upper arms while it had the chance. His leg, which was bleeding more and more by this point, was covered in blood. With John's vision blurring he begged that someone save him. He had just escaped the bird, he didn't want to die, he had friends and he didn't want to leave them or make them upset. John cried a single tear as he whispered "This is not the end." That was the last thing that escaped John's lips before he passed out.

Re: A Revelation (Solo) [Finished]
Paragraph Count: 6
John awoke to a pounding in his head and a dry mouth, he was so parched that breathing stung his dry throat. There was a empty feeling in the pit of his stomach, but it didn't feel hunger-related. John was exhausted still, but he couldn't force himself back to sleep. He felt like he was being dragged through something, when John opened his eyes he found out why.
There he was, on the back of Daichi, the beautiful but strong Pegasus. When Daichi felt movement on his back he turned his head to see John staring in awe, but he snorted and turned his head back ahead in frustration. Having to carry John all the way back home just because he felt the need to explore, and get himself lost, was not what Daichi expected out of one who had just joined. He obviously didn't get off to a good start, but John was quick on his toes and spoke up "Sorry about this... I... uhh... sorry, I didn't know this would happen when I set off." John suddenly look at himself in despair, realizing he was still covered in blood, he checked his wounds, noticing they were all healed, only scars were left.
John felt guilty, Daichi must have patched him up with some of Yuko's herbs in her pouch. "I didn't mean for you to waste any of the herbs to heal me." John said apologetically, Daichi looked back at him still frustrated but with a confused look. "You did heal me right?" John asked, now a little confused himself. Daichi just ignored him at this point, making John a little mad but he was too confused about his wounds to worry about that. John was starting to feel tired again, he had no energy and was hoping that he would be able to figure out what happened before darkness overtook him once more.
John looked at his hands which were almost silky smooth, this wasn't normal for John, and noticed a faint golden aura outlining each hand. "Now that's just creepy..." John whispered. He didn't want Daichi to see his hands, he didn't want to see them either so he put them in his pockets. That wouldn't stop it, he could still see a bit of the glow, John began to panic. What happened to me?! he screamed in his head as he went through what happened. He went to the scar on his leg, he went to feel it and instead the glowing from his hand shined brighter and brighter. He yanked his hand away, holding it like it would be consumed by a plague, curiously and cautiously he let his hand go slowly over the scab on his leg.
The glow this time grew so bright that it caught Daichi's attention, in which John quickly responded by putting his hands behind his head breathing a deep breath. Daichi turned he head around, annoyed by the distraction that John was when all he wanted was to drop him off and be done with it. When John checked the scab he realized... there was no scab. All that was left was a small scar where the injury had occurred. He suddenly thought about it, but quickly shook his head and said there was no way.
Daichi started to descend, John knew the ride was almost over and that he would be on solid ground again. That didn't matter too much to him, when they landed he hopped off and gave an honest smile "Thanks for everything Daichi!" Daichi simply tossed his head and took off with a powerful gust of wind. John stood there in glee, he took out his pocket knife that he always carried, more out of memorabilia than a weapon, and cut open his finger. After putting away the knife he put his hand over the finger, his hand started glowing bright, a goldish yellow, then so did the wound. It started to seal up and magically close up on its own. "No way..." John said, mouth agape in astonishment. Suddenly, John felt the overpowering affects of being tired and as the blackness closed in on him he knew "This is what I was meant for"
