Yuko watched John lay down on the grass. “Yea, we can go if you want to.” She stood up again, the grabbed her basket of berries to eat on the way. Her hand slipped into the basket and picked a berry to eat. The berry was tossed into the air, and fell right in Yuko’s mouth. Her eyes watched over John again as she stood there. “But you look comfortable just the way you are” She kneeled down again to grab her chest piece from the ground and swung it over her forearm again.
Another moment of silence came across the atmosphere and while Yuko heard nothing, she looked out past the river and smiled for a moment. “This place is beautiful. You’re lucky you had another one of your kind around when you got here. It was hard to be the only human here on Masami for some time. But when I lived here for a while, I really got to appreciate my surroundings.” She looked from past the river then back to John. “It’s a lot better than a city of skyscrapers, I would say!” She giggled a bit, the picked her sword up as well. Her hands were full, but it kept her warm.

"I couldn't imagine being here without anyone's support. It must have been so lonely" John thought for a moment, it was ironic. He had come from a place where he was alone, and here was a girl who had gone through the same thing. It almost felt like fate was toying with him, the irony was almost killing him.
It was amazing, she always was giddy and full of confidence in such an abnormal world. It was hard not to feel bad for her, but he knew the last thing she would want was sympathy, since he didn't want any either. He got up to his feet and looked down to Yuko "You know, I am kinda happy I came here. I got to meet you and Daichi, and you wouldn't believe how similar we are." A smile flashed across his face before he turned back to get the creatures.
"Hurry up!" John called back.

As John turned the creatures, Yuko let a smile slip from the corners of her mouth when he wasn’t looking. She coughed the smile off, then followed after him with the bundle of objects in her arms. As she made it to the creatures, one of the young ones took hold on Yuko’s leather skirt for comfort. She looked back at the creature a little surprised, then smiled at it. She then proceeded to continue walking. Her pace was slightly slower since the young one didn’t walk as fast as the rest of them.
“I really hope they at least got the village to stop burning.” Yuko said as she reached into her basket again to pick out a berry. She tossed the berry into the air again, but as it fell, it landed on the rounding of her nose then bounced off. A slight surprised face came across her before she stepped on the berry and yelled “Stupid berry!” then walked off faster. A tugging began on her skirt again, then she remembered the creature holding on her skirt.
“What was it like back on Earth for you, John?” She spoke quietly, almost wishing she had never spoke in the first place. She refused to look into his eyes as she asked the question, but instead, looked to the path she was walking on.

John had been walking toward the creatures, the walk was relaxing and the sites were beautiful. The trees had cast large shadows, making the path shady and cool, the breeze gave him goosebumps every time it brushed across his skin teasingly. John had found a small rock and began kicking it far down the path, walking to it and kicking it a ways down again.
“What was it like back on Earth for you, John?” John stopped in his tracks as he heard the words from Yuko. It was hard to digest what she had just asked, John wasn't usually one to talk about the past in general, let alone his family. He licked his lips and glanced to Yuko, who wasn't looking at him. "Hmmm..." He didn't know how to start, or if he really wanted to. "I guess you could say I lived the "high life" but it wasn't all that great." John tried to avoid too much detail, he trusted Yuko but he was trying to keep himself from remembering the pain. "Sometimes being on top isn't all its cracked up to be, if you know what I mean? There are problems that you can't share due to gossip and the sort."
John began walking again, kicking the rock and looking to the sky between the trees. He didn't feel like talking about it anymore so he didn't ask her about her past. John was beginning to lose his composure, the dark rings around his eyes were now more visible and the paleness of his face was evident. Why am I here? he asked himself, What purpose does it serve? This was the first time he had asked himself these questions, he was just happy he didn't have to deal with his family anymore, but now that he knew he was going to be here for a while it was time to find answers to his questions.

The atmosphere was harsh after she spoke. She suddenly felt guilty after John spoke. It was hard to watch John struggle through his words. “Alright.” Was all that was said out of her mouth as she tried to forget about even bringing it up. “Sorry.” had slipped out of her mouth too without meaning too, but quietly.
She looked up to the sky and saw the branches and leaves passing them as they walked past them. The sun’s beams were shooting through the holes the leaves were providing in some areas. She looked back to the ground to move on the conversation. “So, Norm was there after you left. He wants the scales for scale armor.” She let out a smile towards his direction. “He might make armor just for me with one of those dragons! Doesn’t that sound cool?”

Doesn’t that sound cool?” John sighed, he hated lying but he didn't feel like punishing Yuko for trying to pick up a conversation "That is awesome Yuko, you must be something special for all these people to love you." John nudged Yuko a little jokingly, noticing the little creature attached to Yuko just made him laugh at the irony.
John tried to continue the conversation, even though it was an awkward statement "You know, I am bigger than you and all but your still the one jumping onto dragons and slaying them. While I sit on the ground and run around like a little girl.. uhh no offense" He attempted to laugh but was prepared to get punched in the arm for that last part. Even though it was an accident it was still funny and he laughed.

“So? Just because I’m smaller doesn’t mean I’m not better.” She said loudly to him. “You just don’t know how to use a sword is all.” She picked up her sword from the pile of things in her arms and started swaying it with one hand like it was nothing. “I guess you could say it’s practice, but I say it’s the same with magic. It’s what you’re meant for.” She put the sword back down on the pile of things.
They were approaching the village sooner than Yuko expected them to get there. The smoky smell had been almost completely washed out, but the flames were completely gone. Yuko looked at the bare village and became irritated at the dragons. Before she could swing her sword at anything that didn’t deserve it, she noticed Daichi standing there with Yuko’s backpack in his mouth. “Daichi!”
Yuko ran towards him while her objects were bouncing with every step. As she slowly made it to him, she dropped all her stuff. Everything made a loud thud while the sword made a clank. Some berried rolled out of the basket, but her chest piece was on top the basket so nothing really got out. Her tired arms reached out for the bag, but her arms started shaking. She pulled them away quickly, but forgot about it to reach out again. Her chest piece was stuffed into the bag, but nothing else would fit. “Oh yea, we got some berries. They were for John and I, but we can give them to the creatures. They look starving!.” Her stomach rumbled as the words poured out of her mouth.
Yuko turned around with her filled backpack on her back and her sword in her hand. The young creature had let go of her when she started to run and he looked lost without her. She went back to him and held his hand. “Now where’s your family? You guys must have been separated when we split the crowd.” She looked around for worried parents, but before she ever got a chance to get a good look, some parents were running after him. They hugged the young creature tight. Yuko smiled at their family, then turned to John and smiled towards him.

John was looking up at the sky when he heard Yuko yell "Daichi!" She took off towards him. John tried to figure out what was in his mouth but by this time he was about to keel over from being so tired, it made focusing on anything difficult and almost nauseating. John continued trudging along until finally he came up to meet Daichi and Yuko.
He heard Yuko offering away the berries she had found, for her and the creatures. "You probably should eat some of those before your stomach really starts to get mad" John joked. He turned to Daichi and nodded, "Glad we made it back, how have things been going around here?" It took more energy than it should have to spoke so John just took steady breaths instead.
John reached into his pocket, remembering what was inside of it, and pulled out the feather while he smiled to Daichi "Thanks to you I was able to finish up faster than ever, I can't thank you enough for what you did." John fell to the ground dramatically, his feet giving up. "I could really use some sleep if you can handle things on your own" John had put his robe on earlier in the forest and was ready to take it off already, without his shirt there was an incurable itch that had been bugging him.
John turned his head to see the creature that had been tagging along with Yuko reunite with his family. Yuko turned to him and smiled, it made him happy. He wanted to turn to her and tell her how happy he was for the creature, but his mouth wouldn't open so he just looked into her eyes, hoping the point would get across somehow. His upper body slowly descended upon the grass and he was out, dreams overtaking thoughts.
OOC: lol I believe it! but sometimes it is hard to read what I type >< Other than that I love this, especially the sidebars <3 and the new logo is quite nice.

The creatures had already started rebuilding the huts. They looked pro at it from her point of view. One after one, a new hut was build right where it was before it burnt. Yuko smiled at their hard labor and offered to help them out. Of course, she had no idea what she was doing so she needed someone to show her. She walked up to a group quickly building a hut. “Excuse me, can you show me how to do this?” She spoke to them with complete kindness. The creatures nodded as they showed her how to weave each twig into another.
As Yuko quickly learned how to form the perfect hut, she noticed they were running out of material. She set off to find twigs to weave with. She noticed that when creatures went to pick up more, they never tore the branches and twigs off a living tree, but rather use the dead ones on the gound for good use. Yuko did the same and respect nature around them. It was hard to come back with a large pile of twigs since there were plenty on the trees around her, but to respect Mount Masami, there were only the ones on the ground available.
She finally came back with her pile of twigs but was disappointed that the hut she was working on was almost finished. A raging feeling of guilt burnt in her chest, but she smiled and continued to finish it. The creatures offered to let her weave in the last twig at the top. Her extremely sore arms rose as her hands nimbly strung it into the rest until the hut was secure. The creatures then patted it to make sure it wouldn’t tumble over.
Yuko walked over to another hut to help rebuild. It still took her ages to do it as quickly as them, but she was from Earth where people built for her and she did nothing for them. “I want to build Yuko’s house!” she heard from a distance. There was the family she talked with earlier. She pretended like she heard nothing and what was just said was meant to be a surprise. She turned around to finish the house she was building on. It took her a while, but she noticed it was actually John’s hut.
Yuko dropped her bag and found a piece of crumpled paper still in it from earth as well as a pen that was loosing it’s ink. She saved paper and her pen to write letters to her dad, but doubt filled her as she clicked the pen. “Thanks for the help, John.” Yuko then signed her name on it, then placed the note in John’s hut. She turned around and saw him resting in the distance. She then helped finish the top of his hut before moving on.

John felt his nose tingle and reached up to itch it, he opened his eyes and realized that time had passed. A large yawn escaped John's mouth while he stretched, trying to get blood to his limbs. He looked around him and saw huts everywhere "Holy! How long was I out?" by the looks of it, it wasn't too long but they had gotten so much done. John felt a pang of guilt as he had been resting while the creatures rebuilt the huts.
He found one returning with twigs "What can I do to help?" John was suddenly found carrying a large amount of twigs, since he could hold more than a group of creatures. After he had tried to get a twig from a living tree, and was scolded for hit, he decided to let them grab it and he would just assist in holding the twig then bringing it back to the village. It was an easy task, which made him feel even more guilty.
After another 3 trips he saw Yuko working on a hut with some creatures "Hey! Sorry for missing the beginning of the party, but I am here now" John let a small laugh through his teeth while he held the twigs "Anyways, do you need anymore twigs?" A small breeze blew through his hair and caused his robe to ripple, it was a refreshing feeling.

Yuko was frightened when she saw John randomly appear next to her. “Oh hey, I see you’re up!” She said pleasantly with a small hint of attitude. “I think we have enough twigs since we’re almost done.” She took a twig from John’s pile to demonstrate the process of carefully weaving the twig and intertwining it with the others to create a sturdy structure. “Here, you do it like this.” She didn’t notice it till now, but her sore and shaky fingers had cuts and bruises on them. She hid them away for a moment before Norm distracted her.
“Hey Yuko! Do you think you could help now?” Norm shouted from the other side of the village. Yuko then took her hidden hands and the rest of herself over to him. She wasn’t sure why she felt the need to hide her battle wounds from John, everyone else expected nothing less after a battle. She carried herself over to Norm eventually, leaving John back at the huts. “I was thinking, we could just rip off the scales.” He paused for a moment, scratched his chin roughly, then continued. “The meat could be used for food for all the hungry creatures. Dragon meat is delicious if cooked properly.”
“Yea, sounds great. Would be much easier to move scales rather than the entire body.” She laughed awkwardly, but quickly stopped when no giggling came from the belly of Norm. She held a large scale in her hands and tried to pull it off, but failed miserably. As she let go, her body force was jolted to the ground. “Whoops!” She shouted with a nervous giggle.
“You cluts, you’re going to have to use your sword to chop them off.” He said with a sturn look into her eyes. He picked up the sword Yuko brought with her and started whacking at the dragon’s scales till they started peeling off. “I hate to say it, but you’re stronger than me, so you might have to do it.” Yuko grunted, but got back to her feet. She took the sword back, and used all her force to hit the scales. Her hits were much stronger than Norm’s, but her arms still hurt.
Why do I offer to do so much for these people? It’s not like I hate it, if fact I rather enjoy it. But this hurts so much.

John began weaving new huts as he saw Yuko run off to the cyclops, which Daichi had told him was named Norm. He continued working on this as he heard a thud, he saw Norm try to cut off the scale then offer the sword to Yuko to attempt. Her arms looked
like they were beginning to shake under the weight of the sword, but John knew it was just his imagination, Yuko was not a frail girl.
After the long nap he was refreshed and feeling good, it was a relief. John watched her slowly grind through the scales, he felt bad and was just finishing up so he called over "Norm, Yuko, you two need a hand?" he waved as spoke. John quickly finished the house he was on and looked over to see how the progress went. He was ready to help, even though it was against what he wanted this would help protect Yuko, so he decided it was alright.

Her arms swung back with the sword tightly gripped in her torn fingers. As her arms almost thrust forward heavily, she noticed John. Her distraction caused a disturbance in her swing and her floppy arms dropped the sword. A loud clank from the sword hurt her ear drums, leaving her to be startled. “Oh John, I didn’t see you there.” Her heart was pounding and her body was rushing in adrenaline. She had just fought dragons without fear, and yet, the sight of John scared her. “I think I’ve got this.” She paused for a moment, kneeled down to pick up her sword, then looked back up to John. “But, if you wanna help, you can try and tear off the scales from the head of the dragon and it’s torso.”
She walked over to the dragon’s head. The length from the tail over to the head was actually quite a walk, but she made it eventually. She leaned against the dragon’s head with her clenched fist punching it. “Ya see, the scales on the head and torso are the hardest. That’s where they need protected most. It will probably take a while, but you can get it done eventually.” Her eyes wandered to the working village. “Besides, we won’t be working alone this entire time. The creatures should be able to help us when they are done.” A slight giggles whispered out of her mouth. “They aren’t the strongest though.” Her face lightened up as she slapped the dragon’s head again. “Anyway! Get back to work!”
As she walked back over to where Norm was, she noticed he was gone. “What the?” Though, she ignored it and did as he wished her to do. Her axe like sword swung at the scales over and over again. Her work felt like repetitive factory work, but the thought of helping others made her happy. As each chunk of scale flung off the body, a sense of pleasure filled her body with each swing. Another distraction encountered Yuko’s work when she noticed Norm behind her trying to peel off another dragon’s scales. A sense of relief filled her, then she continued her work.

John did as Yuko advised and began ripping off scales, and she was right, these scales were ridiculously stuck on. He began grunting after he had the scale halfway off, it was like trying to rip a vanity out with your bare hands. He finally had one off but he was breathing a little harder than he had imagined, clearly I need to start working out again if this has got me breathing hard John joked with himself.
Three scales later John was ready to amputate his arms, the pain was unbearable. "How are you doing on your end?" John called out to Yuko trying to buy himself some time until he went back to work. The work was taxing but at least he got to spend time with his friend, a luxury he enjoyed. John sat and let his hands fall behind him as he laid back, trying to stretch his throbbing muscles.

Yuko’s sword was dumped to the ground in the need for a quick break. Her arm stretched back so her hand was itching the back of her head. After John spoke to her, she turned to him as if it used up so much of her energy. “I’m doing alright. Just need a break.” She looked back at the chipped off scales and the tale was just about half way done. “This is gonna be some hard labor for the next few hours. Maybe even days.” Yuko picked up her sword again in depression and held it, anxious of her next swings.
Before Yuko got a chance to swing, a tugging came from her leather skirt. A group of creatures were behind her with their little hand made tools ready to go. “Oh, you’re don’t with your work? Great!” She pointed to John. “John is working on the head.” her lazy arm then pointed to the torse. “But you can work on the dragons torso if you want to.” Her eyes met back to the willing workers, then smiled. She watched them shuffle to the torso, then felt relieved.
Another swing back, but then Norm interrupted again. In fear, she threw the sword to the ground. Norm looked at her weird, but she apologized with her eyes. Norms bulky lips flapped as he spoke. “You know what? The bones could be of some use too.” He smiled, then walked away. Yuko’s heart stopped for a moment. She turned around to find Daichi for some help. But before she could do that, there was an even larger group of creatures willing to help.
“Thanks guys! Think you could rip off some more scales at the tale?” She then ran passed them, ignoring if they approved or not. She looked back, then watched them shuffle too. She continued to run and found Daichi. “Hey! Could you round up some more creatures who arent doing anything? I know they are probably hungry, but I have an idea to get food.” She left Daichi too without approval.

John spent his time ripping scale after scale off, it was no joking matter. It took all of his strength to get them off, then keep them from flying at him and crushing him; it had almost happened several times already. John stepped back from his work, putting his hands behind his head to catch his breath; he counted thirteen as he grabbed his sore biceps.
Well at least he was among friends, it was a short relief though as he saw Yuko continue to strike at the scales, John was renewed with energy after seeing her efforts and started back to work. She called out to the creatures but he was so wrapped up in beating Yuko in how many scales each had he continued working his way along the neck of the creature. It wasn't long until the smell started to penetrate John's nose and send shivers down his spine as he attempted to hold down his berries. John took off the robe that had been covering his sweaty body, and wrapped it around his head and mouth, like he had seen Arabians do in movies.
John's efforts doubled and he was far more productive than he had been when he began, he lifted up the part of the robe covering his face "You seem to be slowing up over there!" He called to Yuko, teasing her as he ripped another scale from the dragon. The smell was less noticeable through the robe that covered his face, though it was a little thick and hard to breath through it was much better than the smell of dragons constantly leaving him nauseous.

Yuko ran towards the food serving part of the village. It wasn’t quite a store or market place since the village had no use for currency, they lived in a cluster together. It was much more like a free buffet. There were tired creatures who lived in the huts that handed out food. The huts they lived in was more sophisticated than the regular housing ones. They were slightly larger to hold the materials, and instead of a door in the front, there was a hole to serve as a window. To the side of the hut were curtains that drooped over the door. The curtains were made from crusty vines found in Cherry Trees during the fall.
As Yuko approached a sleeping creature inside his hut with his head resting on his hand. He was still standing at the window in an impatient wait for someone to try out his food. Yuko noticed the piled up pots that were sitting beside the hut and then innocently interrupted his slumber. “Eh.. Excuse me? May I borrow these?” The creature opened his eyes slowly as if each eye lid carried a weight. Yuko stood there in his hazy vision with a bright smile.
“Oh, eh, those? Yea you can borrow them. No one tries my food anyway.” He plopped his head back into his hand and let the weights on his eye lids keep them shut. Yuko smiled with doubt, then quickly peeked into the window to see fruits and berries all in baskets behind him. She reached in even further and made herself a bowl while her lower body was still sticking out of the window. “Hey, Yuko! You could have just asked for it!” He jumped back to let her maniac ways through.
“No! I do things the way I want to!” She stuck out her tongue in concentration and determination. She prepared the perfect bowl of fruits then she slipped back out of the hut. She ate it, then thought about it for a moment. “This is perfect!” She put the bowl back down onto the counter then grabbed the pots. She started running off, but she decided to please the creature’s confused look. “I have an idea for your food!” she then proceeded to run off again.

John noticed Yuko scurry off to some of the completed huts. Taking advantage of the moment he fell back and laid down, allowing his aching body to finally get some pain through the numbness. Glad to have a rest from the tedious work of pulling off dragon scales he began counting scales, if his body hadn't been in so much pain he probably could have slept; though the dream might not have been a pleasant one.
After he counted all the scales John sighed in exhaustion, how could I have gotten this many without noticing, he stopped counting after 23. John looked up at the sky, clouds covering the overwhelming brightness of the sun; it was a nice day, following such a horrid one. He had been staring at the sky for some time before the pain started to recede, it was a pleasant feeling, being able to move ones arms without jolts of pain.
John got back on his feet, they were shaking but he forced them to hold him up, and began working at the scales once more. He could see the end was getting near, there were not many scales left on the neck and a smile full of joy spread across his face. "Well, may not have been the most fun day; but I got a nice workout and tan" he joked with himself as he worked on the first scale after the break.

With her large pots flopping in her arms, she ran towards the civilization again. A few groups of creatures were just standing around, so she gathered them up. “Listen. Do you guys think you could collect as much meat as you can and put it in these pots?” She placed the pots down to their size in a neat fashion. “I’m sure we’re all hungry!” she smiled to the group then walked away to gather more pots.
Before she could leave, a creature has interrupted her again. “Wait! There are so many dragons! The meat would go bad before we even got a chance to eat all of it!” Yuko turned around and looked them in the eyes for a moment. “Only about four of these dragons would feed the whole village! There are about 15 of these things!” The creature looked at her with a disgusted look.
“Well, first of all, we’re gonna grind most of this all down into soup so it saves meat room. But I still know it would be a waste.” She pointed past Demon Trees. “The town where Norm lives could use something to eat too!” She looked back at the creatures again then continued to explain. “And we will probably get plenty of hungry visitors for the next few days.” She nudged the pots to them again, but she knew there still wasn’t enough. There wasn’t even enough pots for all the meat. “Oh!”
Yuko found another group of unoccupied creatures and asked for a favor. “Do you think you could make a lot of pots for the next few days?” The creatures nodded, then started their work without question. They were over hearing the conversation she had with the previous group, so they had no need for questions. “I should get back at hacking at those scales now.”

John looked over and saw Yuko running back to the dragons, well someone is in a good mood, he thought as he positioned his hands to take one of the last few scales on the neck. She had been off doing something for a while now and he was stuck pulling off the scales for her "Damn, why do I always get stuck with the crappy jobs." John complained as he started pulling at the scale.
Not much later a crew of creatures with pots ran over to the dragon and started cutting off pieces of meat. "Whatcha doing there little guy?" John asked one of the creatures closest to him "Yuko said to start collecting the meat to eat." "Thanks" John managed to get out before he looked away, how could they eat these things? John was in disbelief, getting scales to make armor was one thing, but feeding from them was another; he thought he would be sick to his stomach
John, as much as he was glad to be friends with Yuko and Daichi, couldn't accept the decision they had made. He stumbled off to an empty hut and laid down, contemplating how to go about this. John didn't want to be rude to the people that had taken him in, he had let his disapproval slide for ripping off the scales, but taking the meat from it was just too far. Should he express his dislike for this to Yuko or just let them do this.
John stared up at the ceiling for a while, it was not something he was going to take lightly. He laid there until the door opened and a creature walked in and quickly scurried back in surprise. "Sorry, I just needed a place to be alone and think. I will leave now" John got up and left the surprised creature by the door, making up his mind.

Yuko stood and watched the system working for a while. Some creatures were pulling off scales and bones for armor while others were tearing out meat for food and slapping it into their pots. The hungry creatures anxiously cooked the meat then set out bowls upon bowls to serve. To watch a system like this impressed Yuko for a moment.
“Hey Norm, can I go take a break now?” Yuko yelled over a half dug out dragon carcass laying in front of her. He nodded an approval, then went to look for a quiet place to rest. Every corner of the village was packed with creatures looking for work to help their community. It made her happy, but bothered her because she needed a place to lay down.
At the entrance of Cherry Forest, Yuko decided to lay against the pink tree and let the cool air of the shade absorb into her sweating skin. The little light that shined through the holes of the leaves glistened off her sweating arms. As her body began to relax, her muscled throbbed and her head felt like a drummer was in awe of his own music.
Her bored arms played with the dry dirt beneath her. She drew little doodles and smiley faces she would used to draw on her binders at school. She would practice her signature in Japanese, then English, then she tried to take a go at Masami’s written language. She failed miserably.
“What just happened?” She had said to herself under her breath. “It’s like the village had completely forgotten everything that had just happened. They just continue on their lives.” She giggled for a moment then looked down to her scribbles in the dirt. As she wiped all the sketches away, she said “I wish it was that easy to forget something like that.”

John marched towards the dragon corpse, shoulders back and chest out he set forth. Seeing Norm he called out "Where can I go to get away from this place?" the question set Norm on his heels but he answered hesitantly "Probably Cherry Forest..." John heard nothing more as he turned direction and set off. Looking back he saw where Norm was pointing, he tried to act nonchalant as he changed course and set off once again, with hands behind his head.
John had been doing some deep thinking, and as he naturally does when he thinks hard his head tilts towards his beloved sky. After seriously considering what he was doing he looked down, to meet a tree in the face. Flat on his ass John rubbed his eyes as blood trailed down from the wound on his head. "Should have just kept looking at the sky, I hadn't run into anything than" He scolded himself as he got up and walked around the tree, letting the blood continue to flow as if it didn't bother him.
Finding the bridge in Cherry Forest he leaned up against the railing looking at the flowing water. The occasional blood drop from his nose causing a red ripple in the water. John was thinking about anything and everything, such as if people drank from the water, and if they did would they notice his blood staining the clear water. It was hard for John to settle down, he was worked up over the whole dragon deal. John knew in no time he would forgive Yuko and Daichi, but for now he just moped in his own misery, disgusted at his friends actions.

Yuko noticed John walk into Cherry Forest. She sat there in the entrance for a while but continued to watch John wander into the forest. Once he was out of her sight, she got up to follow. She wasn’t sure why she cared to follow, but she did. Her feet rolled with every land to prevent a sound to echo off the trees. It almost felt like she took a step per minute. Whatever the speed, she was still able to see John in the foggy distance. She wasn’t sure where to go once he stopped at the bridge.
Yuko got pretty close to him when she noticed a red drop appear in the water, then a white shine cleared it away. “The water cleans itself here.” She said to him to break the awkward silence she knew existed. Her boots got kicked off and her pasty feet were dipped into the water as she sat down next to him. She watched he magical water do it’s work on her sweaty and dirty feet. “It never seizes to amaze me.”
She looked up at his face with concern. “Something seems to be bothering you.” Her voice was soft. It was also strange because she was almost inviting his confidence instead of knocking him down. Her eyes wouldn’t unlock from his eyes to beg an answer out of him.

“The water cleans itself here. It never seizes to amaze me.” John was caught off guard, how had he not noticed her? "Glad to hear it" he answered rhetorically. He tried to sound uninterested but the softness of Yuko's voice always caused goosebumps and calmed his nerves.
“Something seems to be bothering you.” Yuko had no trouble getting straight to the point. John looked into Yuko's eyes, it was hard not to forget why he was mad. "I guess, but I am sure you wouldn't really care since you just do whatever you like." John continued to be entranced by Yuko's piercing gaze.
John had a pain in his chest, he really was mad at Yuko but she seemed to be quelling his rage with every word. "I am sorry, that was unnecessary; I have just been questioning my actions recently." He sighed and let his gaze fall back to the river, he enjoyed watching it so full of life. He wished he would just get over this whole thing but he had gotten so into it earlier that it wouldn't go away with just a whim.

A patch of cloth from her torn up book bag was hanging by a string. With a tough pull, she easily got the patch off. She leaned over the river to soak the patch, but then rung it out to make it only damp. Her body then turned towards John as she lifted her arm to join the patch with his cut. Not a word was spoken from her mouth as she did so.
When she finished, she looked for a very small twig and looped the patch around it. She then put the twig and patch in her bag. “I can try to sew it up later. I might even ask a creature to do it for me since they have more nimble hands.” She realized how rude she was for changing the subject, then looked deeply into John’s eyes. “Why are you doubting yourself?’ Her hand then lifted and landed on his leg to comfort him. “You saved all those lives back there. How could you question yourself after that?”
